It's that Time again!

Time for the annual Tri-County Humane Society Fundraiser Walk!

Last year ya'll helped me raise over 150 dollars. Can we do it again this year?

Same deal as last year. Click that little box over to the left, (firstgiving) and donate something. Even a dollar! Put a little note that you're on the ravelry or knittyboard or even just your username and "knit" and I will put your name in a hat for yarn! Last year CPurl won a skein of Yarn Pirate. (Dude! I still have your yarn! Shoot me an email!) I'll pick out the yarn here this week, when I can hopefully get into my stash. :)

Thank you in advance for all your help! :)

Saturday, August 23

I'm no Michael Phelps.

But, I still get a gold medal.

I finished it this morning at 10 am. I love it so very much. The colors are just lovely. And the little braid? Totally cool.

Also? I wear my pants way higher on the hips.

Tuesday, August 19

The fans are gone! Well, they were actually gone yesterday, but I'm been so enjoying listening to...well silence that I've been to lazy to blog. That and I'm surrounded by boxes. I'm trying to downsize and get rid of tings before they go back into the craft room. I already took 2 bags to goodwill (one was full of clothes) and I've got another box going soon.

I've been knitting! Because I can't vacuum or do laundry or really, anything except the dishes. :) So I've got one sleeve to go and I'm gone with the baby sweater. I'm planning to make a matching sweater for Osiris out of my leftovers. I've talked with a couple folks on Ravelry and they're going to send me their scrapes. I hope I have enough yarn!

I've got a wedding to attend on the 30th. If we go. It's in Madison. Which is a haul with a little baby. Anyway, I want to cast on a shrug for that. Maybe I'll get it done? Maybe we'll go? Who knows! I also plan on casting on some doggie sweaters for K9KittersUSA, which is a group that sells dog sweaters to raise money for dog charities. I can get on board with that.

That's pretty much it really. We looked at some paint and carpet samples on Sunday. The rebuild guys are coming tomorrow to do...something. I don't know. Measure?

Oh. Better go. Baby is waking up.

Wednesday, August 13

Why I did not Knit yesterday.

No. For once it wasn't because of the dog. I woke up at 6 am to feed Johnathan, and heard water running. Oh. Just the softener I thought. No... toilet running... no... what IS that? SO I went downstairs.....SQUISH! Oh FUCK! The hose on the washing machine broke, and was gushing water everywhere. I ran upstairs, grabbed my glasses and woke hubby. I had just happened to rent a steam cleaner, and I took out 8 buckets of water before he got a hold of his mother and we found out who to call. Turns out or basement was pretty much toast. Water had run down the hallway, into the guest room and HORROR! my craft room. Thankfully all my yarn is in totes and off the floor. So, we cleaned out that room and moved everything into the rest of the family room. Then, they found that the carpet was delaminateing in the living room, so everything went upstairs and into the garage. Carpet could only be saved in the guest room, the water only went a little bit in there. They had to tear out everything else. And part of the walls to. And the bathroom and laundry room floors. So pretty much, we get a new basement.

Looking down the stairs. That's where the TV used to sit. The dark? Water damage.
Looking down the hallway. That's the bathroom door on the left.
Craft room! The horror! That's a huge dehumidifier. There's 2 of them in my basement right now. See how the wall under the window is missing?
And this? This is the wall that had my shelves with all my yarn stored. You're looking into the laundry room now.
This is the guest bedroom. They've pulled up the carpet, and cut out the pads. There are fans like that in every room. The fans and dehumidifiers have to run for a full 3 days at least to dry everything out. It's so loud that I'm holed up in the bedroom with the dogs and baby with the doors closed.

Saturday, August 9

Knitting update.

So. I am on the 4th color change on the baby sweater. I also frogged 15 or so rows of it. Also? Since I cast on at 9 am on Friday morning, I've taken the dog to the vet. Twice. Done several loads of laundry, mowed the lawn, tried to pick up the house, and gone on a date for the first time since Johnathan was born. We ate at a little Mexican restaurant and saw "The Dark Knight". All I have to say is, it sure is a shame Heath Ledger died in a pool of his own vomit. His Joker is awesome. Unhinged. Like the Joker *should* be. Oh. Did I get too nerdy for you there? Sorry. More knitting....

Here's hoping I'll be able to keep up the momentum and finish the baby sweater. and Hopefully, I'll not have to take the dog to the vet again before Wednesday.

Thursday, August 7

Stuff.

So. Not much happening here. Same old same old. Feed baby, yell at dog to stop licking, repeat.

Have an interview today to work at a salon. Not sure if that's what I want to do or not, but I'm trying!

Will be knitting a Baby Sweater for the Ravelympics. Hopefully I have the right needles. I should go search them out I guess. I can cast on tomorrow at 7am. Yea, like I'm getting up that early! I'll probably be kicking myself at the end of it all, that I didn't get up! :)

Erm... That's it really. I must go get my things together for the interview. And find my needles. And clean the house so I can knit all day tomorrow.

Tuesday, July 29

The one where we all cry.

So. Johnathan got his first set of shots today. 6 shots! And one in the mouth. He cried, I cried. It was awful.

So we're home now, and I'm trying to gingerly snuggle him, and his little thighs are covered with 4 band-aids.

Poor Monkey.

Monday, July 21

Happy Baby!

So, here's Johnathan. He'll be 2 months old tomorrow. He's such a cute little peanut! Just talking to him can get him smiling and even laughing a little.

Saturday, July 19

A quick puppy update...

So, they bandaged Siris up and he came home on Wed. Thursday morning had us rushing over to the vet to replace the bandage, as it had slipped and you could see a big gaping wound. Friday morning? A repeat of Thursday. Friday they kept him during the day to watch him, and stapled the bandage to his leg. Brought him in today, and they changed his bandage, and stapled it it two places thankfully, as we have to make it to Monday. And, a couple of the stitches on the top row have already come loose. So, we're watching it like a hawk. We're heading over to a friends house tonight, and have to bring him with. Ack! He's just like having another baby!

But, he's healing well. It's just a lot of running to the vet. I was there EVERY day last week. And, they keep reminding me it's going to be a long road yet.

Thursday, July 17

Teal!

This is what they had to do to make sure he didn't eat his stitches. So much easier to look at!

Tuesday, July 15

:(

I'm sad. I miss my dog.

I feel like I failed him.

The one where I almost have a nervous breakdown.

I'll admit it. I'm not to proud. I took Siris to the vet to board him for a couple days.
We couldn't do it anymore. He popped stitches, and Johnathan was crying and Siris was trying to wrestle with Cleo and I just. couldn't. do. it.
So I went to the vet, and sobbing, asked them to check his wound and could they please please please keep him for a couple days? They said yes. Of course. And they he's healing well, and that they'd try to bandage him up, instead of putting him under and re-stitching him up, as it's getting pretty thin, and he's already been under 2 times this past week.

If I ever see the owner of the dogs on the street, I'm totally going to punch her in the face.

Today is my 3rd wedding anniversary, and I haven't even been able to pick up a card for my husband! Ugh! It's been a shitty week.

Sunday, July 13

ACK! (Puppy update)

Thursday night went fine, and Friday during the day was fine. Friday night sucked. I think the pain meds made Siris a little loopy, and he would get up and wander around, like he was lost. Then to top it off, he popped some stitches. So we brought him into the vet, where they put in a couple staples. Then, about 4 pm, my SIL (who stopped by to help with the baby, so I could watch the dog, so Hubby could go buy groceries) noticed that the staples had opened up again. So then it was a trip to the ER vets. They put him under, cleaned up the dead tissue, and put some new staples/stitches in. They closed up the hole, and the vet (who was the one that originally closed him up on Monday) said he's healing well, and the part that is open is much smaller then he thought it would be.
They kept him overnight, so I was totally looking for a good night's sleep, But Johnathan decided instead of sleeping for 3 hour stretches, he's like to get up and eat every 1 1/2 hours. Ack! Here's hoping that tonight is much better.

So today, it's just be a mellow day, sitting in front of the tv, with the doggie sleeping next to me.

Thanks again for all the well wishes.

Thursday, July 10

He's home!

Siris came home today. And I think I lost a layer of skin to his licking. He was so very excited to see both of us, I thought he was just going to jump out of his skin.

He's got 2 kinds of pain meds, and he'll need to go back in on Monday for a check up. We're supposed to just keep him calm and clean. Once he got home, he's just been hanging out next to me snuggled up on the couch. It's going to be a interesting couple of weeks. No jumping. So, I think I'll be camping out for awhile, as our bed is way too high, and I'm afraid he'd try and jump out/fall out in the middle of the night. Plus, we have to watch him like a hawk so he doesn't pull out his stitches/staples.

There is a part that's missing skin, and we have to watch out for necropsy, which would be bad, as that's more surgery but the vet said it would look like a step back, but it wouldn't be, as there would still be healing going on.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. Please keep him in your thoughts, it's still going to be a long road.

Puppy Update

Went and visited him yesterday, and he almost licked my face off, and wagged his little tail off. He was moving around quite a bit, but I think it was all the pain meds. They kept him last night, and the vet will call today, and will let me know the status, if he goes home tonight, or they keep him another day.

Talked with animal control, and got things rolling there. The dog will be quarantined because of the bite, and or impounded as it wasn't licensed. Currently there is nothing on the books for attacks, so I'm going to have to check with the neighbors that said their dogs got attacked, to make sure they called it in. I'd think there has to be more then one on record for them to do anything. Unless of course, since the lady admitted this is not the first time it's happened.

Tuesday, July 8

Frankinpuppy

Here's a photo of the little guy. I shrunk it so it's not as awful. Click to see the full horror.

The vet kept him today, and is pumping him full of meds. He said that where all the stitches met, that the skin might be lost, but it's okay, as everything under will continue to heal. The fur might not grow back there, which, if that's all that happens, is the least of my worries. He should retain full use of his leg. I'm going to go visit him tomorrow. Hopefully he's not missing home too much. This is the first time he's ever been alone. I'm so worried.

Thanks for the happy thoughts. Please keep thinking good things for him.

The one where my dog was almost killed....

Last night my hubby was walking our dogs, and my little guy got attacked by another dog. The dog burst thru the invisible fence and torn up my little guy. He's stapled back together, but they're not sure if all the skin will take, as he was missing a chunk and they had to stretch the skin tight to put him back together. He might need skin grafts.

Thank god he's alive, and the other dog didn't get him by the neck. I spent the night on the floor with him, and he cried the whole time. So, now we're taking care of 2 babies.

I was at home taking care of Johnathan, and Micheal called me, saying "you gotta come get us... siris... bite....oh...god...." I totally pulled a Britney Spears and ran out carrying Johnathan, barefoot, to the car and went to find them. Michael was covered in blood, and Siris looked awful. His whole right leg was missing skin, and it look like a chunk of the muscle was torn. Siris went in back, I hoped in the back seat, holding Johnathan, Cleo went in front and Michael drove to the Emergency vets. On the way there I called Michaels' Mom to met us to get Johnathan. She called Dan to come to, he went home and got the car seat, diaper bag and shoes for me, then took Cleo home, while Johnathan went with Grandma and then Michael and I went to Urgent Care, as Siris had bit Michael in the thumb when he tried to pick him up.

We're take him in to our vets' at one to have him looked over, and see what they can do to help us. We just don't what to do! We're overwhelemd with him and the baby.

Fail!

So. I was one inch away from completing my hubby's second sock. It was looking.. large. So I dug out the one I already finished..yeah. Like 3 times bigger then the other sock. Nothing could be salvaged, as even the ribbing was much longer then the first sock. Frick!

So, to make myself feel better, I cast on and finished my very first dishcloth. Yeah! I can knit something! :) I decided to toss some cotton into my diaper bag, and I shall work on dishcloths while I wait for doctor appointments, and maybe even knit while I'm feeding him at other folks houses. I can see why these stupid things are so addicting. It's the instant gratification. :)

While cruising around Ravelry I was reminded that the Olympics are this year. And the last time I jumped on board the knitting olympics. It was fun, and I didn't finish my project. So I'm thinking this year I shall try again. The thing that got me was not the difficulty of my project (I knit 7 out of 8 baby hats) it was the time management. I know I always have that issue, so I'm thinking maybe trying to knit a pair of socks or a baby sweater. The only self imposed rule? It must be A) from stash yarn and B) from my que on Ravelry. So really, that doesn't really limit me too much. :)

Wednesday, June 25

socks!

Teeny little baby socks! See. I still knit.

I've been working on my Hubby's socks, and the BSJ. Hopefully I'll finish one of then soon. I need to cast on socks for my mom, and I feel guilty with so many projects staring at me. :)

I've got about 4 repeats on the sock, then it's the toe and I'm done. I have no freaking clue where I am on the BSJ. I'm increasing. But that's all I can tell you.

Friday, June 20

Meh.

Dude. What's with the weird little storm we just got? Sunny happy day.. all of a sudden boom! grey skies, thunder and rain. Lots of rain. Five minutes later, it's sunny again. Weird.

Anyway. Knitting has been happening! I wound up both sock yarns, and decided to cast on the BSJ for Johnathan. (Ravelry link) It's slow going. Mostly because we found out Johnathan most likely has acid reflux, and the way that babies fix this is that they eat for 5 minutes every 30 minutes. So. All I do is feed him. I swear. I've finally been able to jiggle him around and I can knit. But that's only if I remember to grab the knitting before we get him set. So he eats, then he has to sit upright for 30 minutes. Then he eats again. Whatever I gotta do to make him happy I guess. :)

I know the BSJ is like.. magic and whatnot, but I still cannot figure out how this thing is going to turn into a sweater. I know it will, I've seen in happen in person. I just can't figure out where/what it is exactly I'm knitting right now.

Friday, June 13

Dude!

You'll never guess what I did yesterday.

I took a shower! I exfoliated! I shaved! I conditioned! It was... awesome.
Now, if I can get 30 minutes to touch up my hair before father's day, I'll be set. :) The pink is starting to fade pretty badly in the front, and I know my Mother will want Family pictures. Vanity, thy name is Valkryie.... so ya. Hopefully I can fix my hair. :)

Lets see, knitting hasn't happened much. I've be able to update a little of my stash on Ravelry, so that's cool. I still am nowhere near having everything entered, but it's getting closer. I also updated a few of my older projects, and now that I no longer have a baby belly, I can take some photos of me IN the stuff.

I've been tossing around a few projects I want to start in my head. Not sure which to do first. My mom's socks or a baby surprise jacket. I think is should start the BSJ. Because I want to do it in sock yarn, and the little guy will only be a peanut for a little while longer. Maybe I should ball up both skeins of yarn and just look at them and see which calls to me the most.

Monday, June 9

Two weeks tommorrow!

Wow. Time has flow, and yet, it seems like it's longer than that. Could be all the extra hours I'm awake at night. :)

Johnathan is a great little bug. He sleeps well, eats well, and I think he's growing like a weed. I was even able to take a shower today. He did start to cry the minute I got the shampoo on my head, but I didn't really want a 20 minute shower I guess. :) But I'm out of my pj's and my hair is clean, so I feel great.

He's been eating like, every 30 minutes it seems, so I've been catching up on the daytime television today. I can feel my brain turning to mush and I love it.

I think we're heading someplace tonight for Michael's Grandma's birthday. So that might be exciting. I'm not sure if we're heading out to eat, or going over to his aunts' house, so it'll be a surprise.

Oh! If he stays asleep for a little bit longer, I might even get to knit some today. :)

Wednesday, May 28

Welcome!

Johnanthan Cassian Vernon Lastname was born on 5-27 at 12:43pm weighing 6.3 oz and is 19.75 inches long. He came into the world after 5 1/2 hours labor.

Friday, May 23

aw man!!!

Bad timing!

So. Yeah. You know how I've ALWAYS wanted to be a roller girl? Guess who's holding adutions?
yeah. The MN Roller Girls. For when you ask? One month. So yeah... I can totally pop out a kid and then be a roller girl.... right?

Poop. Now I is sad. I shall go eat ice cream. That will make it better.

Pinwheel Done!

I finished the Pinwheel Blanket yesterday. OMG! Blocking it was such a pain in the ass! I've never blocked something round before, and let me tell you, it sucks. Or rather, I suck at it. :)

I used a size 8 needle because that's what I had the most of in double points and circulars laying around. I think the fabric ended up a little airy, but that's okay, as it's cascade220 superwash. And what May baby doesn't need a nice warm wool blanket? :) It was a easy knit, something that I could totally knit while watching TV or chatting with friends. I would totally knit this again. But if I were to, I'd go one size down with the needles.

Thursday Update

This turned out a little blurry, but whatever. 39 week belly. (plus 2 days) Doctor apt on Tue went well. Apparently I can have this kid at ANY TIME! Dilated between 2 and 3, 80% effaced. If I don't have him by Tuesday, I'll go in at 5 freaking am, they'll break my water and I'll have a baby. BY TUESDAY!!! Doctor is guessing he's about 7 1/2 to 8 pounds. Not bad. Right in the ball park that I was hoping for. :)

On to the knitting... Pinwheel blanket is almost done. I started the moss stitch board and ran out of yarn from the second skein. I'll use just a smidgen of the third skein, so it looks like Siris will be getting a sweater after all. I think I'm going to do 5 rows of the boarder, and I'm on row 3 maybe? I've got 5 inches left on Maya's Hood. I took my hubby's socks with me today to get an oil change and I got a full repeat done on them. I might just bring those with me to the hospital to finish up. I thought about starting some for my mother, but if I could get 3 projects done from my WIP list, that would totally rock.

So, the fridge is stocked, I started packing my bag. All I have to do is finish washing some clothes and maybe vacuum yet and I'm good to go! :)

Oh, and I totally have Internet access in my room at the hospital, so I'll keep ya'll updated. :)

I shall leave you with a picture of my little dog, with funny ears. He thinks he's a cat, and likes to sleep on the back of the couch in the sun. I can't really blame him.

Monday, May 19

This post is full of swear words.

Damn damn damn.

I was cruising along on Maya's sweater and I just noticed I miss-crossed a cable. Fuck! It's way too far back to fix it. damn it! Son of a bitch. Piss Fuck Damn.

Okay. Breath.

I think I can fix it. Al La the Yarn Harlot. Option #2. damn! I'm so pissed off right now. I can't believe I did that.

Friday, May 16

Is this a Knitting blog?

You wouldn't know, as of late, would you?

I finished Jen's socks last night! We just happen to be getting together for some knitting and visiting, so I'm going to bring over the sock, and force her to either A) put them on and let me take pictures of her feet so I can post those pictures on the Internet. (hehe..that sounds SO CREEPY!) or B) let me block them, so I can take a photo of them. Or, maybe both. :)

Worked on the pinwheel blanket. Up to 37 stitches per section which means that I still have no idea how big it is. :) When I switched up to my larger circulars, it didn't look very big. I'm sure when I block it the thing will like.. grow to cover my queen sized bed or something. I'm not even halfway through my second ball of cascade 220 so, we'll see after some more knitting tonight I guess. I'm planning on bringing that blanket and the sweater for my niece. Because it's May, and what toddle doesn't need a wool sweater in May? d'oh. I just have to decrease the sleeve cap, and then it's on to the hood. So close to finishing I can almost taste it!

Thursday, May 15

A Day at the Dog Park.

Since yesterday was so nice outside, and I've been feeling guilty about having a baby and ruining the 'good thing' these dogs have, I went and took them to the dog park for a few hours. I can no longer walk them both at once, but I can let them run and play while I sit in the sun. Everybody wins!

Cleo was being extra funny yesterday. She kept protecting me from the other dogs. When a huge husky came to visit me, she chest butted him out of the way. She did this to all the dogs that were getting 'too close' to me. Which is funny, as normally she's so busy with sniffing and whatnot, that I can pet all the dogs with no problems. I think she was watching out for my belly. :)

And, my little guy Siris, who is scared of EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY, was sitting on my lap when a lady with a baby sat next to me. Next thing I know, he's sidled over and is licking the babies ear. This is the same lady who he would not go near 10 seconds earlier. Then Cleo had to come over a lick the babies too.

Hm. Maybe these dogs do know something is up.

Stuff not related to knitting

Lookie! My new hair!
Not soccer mom like at all. Very happy with it.

Also, since I was taking pictures of my hair, here's my 38 week (tomorrow) belly.
Yes. I look like a dork. I know. But all the other pictures were either blurry or I had an even weirder expression on my face. Eh. What you gonna do?

I think I'm now going to go eat the whole container of strawberries I just bought. They're totally calling my name.

Friday, May 9

Never tempt the Knittting Gods.

For they are vile and fickle. This I have learned.

The past couple days I've really been craving lace. I've been surfing the ravelry and everything I added to my to do list was lace. Lace. Lace. Lace. So I decided that instead of casting on yet another project, I would dig out my Kimono Shawl that had been banished to the bottom of the UFO box. I was uber proud of myself, for being able to 'read' the lace pattern better. So I was thinking I was all hot stuff, and flew threw a pattern repeat. It was at about 10 pm last night that I held it up and realized that... you got it... I had re-started the pattern in the wrong spot. d'oh!

So, I got to frog 25 or so rows. Which is exactly the amount I had knit yesterday. Ugh. So. Now I'm back to where I was when I picked it up. Blast and Damn.

I've been thinking of digging out that UFO box, and being completely honest with y'all and posting it all on my projects list in ravelry. That way I can honestly see what I have. And when I get an itch to work on something (like lace) I'm pretty sure I have something sitting around that I could pick up. There is a sock and the very start of the second on in there. (that's posted) There is a scarf that I'm probably 1/4 the way done with. I know I've got a Dale baby sweater in there, and my Morale builders in there as well. Funny thing is, the reason a lot of the projects are in there is because of Siris. He goes all crazy with the yarn, and I get frustrated, and I toss it in the box. To rewind at a later date. Well, when I was cleaning, I did all the rewinding, so I should be able to just start knitting again. In Theory. If of course, I sacrifice a chicken or something to those fickle knitting gods first.

Monday, May 5

Math is HARD!

So I've been working on the pinwheel blanket, and I have no idea how much yarn it's going to take! According to the little excel spreadsheet someone made up for it, I've used one skein of cascade 220 and the blanket is already 23 inches in diameter. Now I know that as I add stitches, it gets bigger, thus taking up more yarn as I progress, but.. I don't know... that just seems really massive for one skein of yarn. Even if there are 220 yards on it. I know I bought enough, I do have 3 skeins total. I just keep wondering if I think I'll actually use them all or not. It's a crap shoot I guess. Ah well. Dog sweater for Siris if I don't I guess. :)

Today I finally finished the dust ruffle for the crib. I ironed it and everything. And I finished the crib sheet too. Then I started the curtain panels. I just have to do the bottom hem and pocket on the one, and then the hemming (all sides) and top pocket on the second one. Then. I. Am. Done. Whew!

Sunday, May 4

So, now that the cat is out of the bag, so to speak. I can post. Those Appletini socks? Not for me. Nope. For my friend Jen. I gave her the completed one last night. I was hoping to have them done by our Saturday get together, but... she's a knitter. She understands. :) So, I'm going to bust butt and get the second one finished ASAP. At least I know they fit!

Today looks like a lazy day. I hope. Might get out to do some yard work. Or not. Who knows? I'd like to just sit on my butt all day, but then again, I've been doing that a lot lately. :) Something I should should really do first is go clean the bathroom. Eh. We'll see.

Friday, May 2

TGIF!

Let's see what's new and happening....

I started a baby blanket for the little seamonkey last night.Size 8's Cascade 220 Superwash I picked up at Yarnover this year. I bought three skeins, so we'll see how big this thing gets. It's the Pinwheel Baby Blanket. So far I loves it. But, when it gets huge and it's taking me 80 hours to do a round, we'll see. :) It's my "I need to knit something for this baby, but I don't want him to come out early, so maybe if I take awhile he'll stay in a bit yet" project.

Next thing I've been working on is my Appletini Embossed Leaves Socks.
This is the second sock, up to where I need to start the heel. I love the colors. It's Scouts Swag.

That's really it I guess. I'll be cooking up a cake today, for my friends birthday shin-dig tomorrow. Um.. some knitting too maybe?

Had my 36 week check up yesterday. Things are fine, and he's dropped down, which is why my girl bits hurt where there previously was no hurt. so, now it's just the waiting game I guess. But he can't come before the 19th. My doctor is on vacation until the 19th. :)

Saturday, April 26

Snow? Again?

Okay. This isn't funny anymore. I'm seriously sick of winter. I think I should pack up the doggies and my hubby and move south.

Anyway, so my plan for a snowy Saturday was as follows:
Stay in house
Watch movies
Eat Cookies

Good day huh?

I also uploaded 3 tubs of yarn on ravelry. My stash is scary. Seriously. It's out of control. I still have more to post, but, the more to post part isn't getting smaller and smaller.

Friday, April 25

Erm...

Maybe there is something to this nesting thing. I didn't take a before, but here's a after.

Yeah...

Oh, and if anyone can guess what color that Manic Panic is.. you get a cookie. :) It's totally going on my head on Monday. Responsible adult? Yes. Yes I am. Responsible adult not currently working (or employable) who's scared of turning into a soccer mom. That's me!

Thursday, April 24

I've been accused of nesting.

But I'd like to think of it as getting to things that have been put off for way too long, now that I've got the time. (and before the baby comes.)

I've got my craft room cleaned. Yay! Also, I turned the hallway linen closet from the "closet of shame" back to the "hallway linen closet."

See, I'm forgetful. And I have a dog that loves yarn. Sometimes I forget to put away the knitting I'm working on before I go to bed. And then, he finds it the next day, and unravels it everywhere. I cry, and pick it up and put it in the closet until I can deal with it. I've got many a project stalled for that very reason. Want a list?? My Rhiannon socks. Morale builders. The pink and yellow socks. Oh, and as of lately, my Appletini socks and my Husband's jitterbug socks. I've also got my swatch from Enny's Vest to deal with. Someday. Not today.

Anyway. I took the yarn, and untangled it, balled it up with my winder, and I'm good to go. Well, all except the vest and the pink and yellow socks. The socks are upstairs, and was too lazy to bring them downstairs to work on.

Anyway, I put yarn away, and put projects together. And I started a tub that I'm calling "the UFO box of SHAME!" for projects that have been sitting way way too long. I cleaned. I frogged. I organized. I feel good. I also searched Ravelry and found some patterns that will work with the yarn I have. I loves ravelry.

Now, I hurt. But I blame that on the yard work I did yesterday, not so much on the yarn. Yarn can't ever be at fault.

Monday, April 21

Monday Monday

My Monday has been... well... not as dreaded as they have in the past. Well, except for that dentist appointment I went to this morning. I had been well over a *cough* year and a half since I went in for a cleaning, and since my insurance ends on the 30th, I thought I should go. Good news, no cavities. Bad news, my teeth STILL hurt. ow ow ow. So yeah. Puttered around the house today. Did laundry, and the dishes and took a 3 hour nap. Because I could. :)

On the knitting front I have the toe to finish on my socks I started last weekend. I'm using Appletini from Scout's swag and the embossed leaves pattern and I loves it. Hopefully I shall finish the toe and start on the second sock. I'd like to get them done, so I can work on some older knits, like Maya's sweater. I want to cast on for a baby blanket for my little seamonkey, but I'm waiting until May 1 to do that, and I'd like to be guilt free and maybe (please god?) have Maya's sweater done by then. I can dream, can't I?

Wednesday, April 16

Saturday, April 12

Yay! Done!

Ignore the goofy face. I think I must always look like that. :)
Me and my almost 34 week belly and a completed Mommy Snug. So happy.

Went to yarnover. Met Franklin. OMG. He is so sweet and cute, I just wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home with me. Now, I am all yarned out. I think I need a nap.

Friday, April 11

Hells to the Yeah.

I finished my Mommy Snug. Hells yeah. Okay, So I wanted it done my the 6th, and I just had to sew one sleeve to the body, attached the buttons, weave in the ends, and then do the neckline. And... well... I quit. Because I am a quitter. :)

So, I sat down and did it today, because then I can wear it tomorrow when I go see Franklin at the Yarnery. At least I'm pretty sure that's where he's going to be. Damn, I better make sure, since I am the driver and what not. Oh... double damn. He IS at Yarnover. Not the Yarnery. Good thing I checked...Ack! NOw I fear for my wallet. :)

I read on the ravelry that someone finished the neck edge with an i-cord bind off, and I totally stole that idea. I used the handy tutorial off of Knitty. I loves me some i-cord. Loves.

Thursday, April 10

So, now that I'm unemployed (long story) I find I have time to do all the stuff I never did have time for before. Who knew? :) Not only have I spent time looking for a job, I also have gotten a butt load of cleaning and organizing done. So nice. I might just be ready for this baby after all. After lunch I'm going to head over to the temp agency to update my resume. Then.. who knows. Knitting? I think we're going out to eat tonight because it's my SIL birthday. Woo! No cooking tonight.

ugh. Still stressed out about the whole ordeal, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel I guess. I'm still freaked out about my insurance, but we'll figure something out...hopefully sooner rather than later.

Wednesday, March 26

just keep knitting....

Ack! Must. Finish. Mommy Snug. I've got the front, back and one sleeve done. I'm at the elbow of the second one. Think I'll make it by the 6th of April? I've been taking it to work and sneaking in a few rows on my lunch. I was home sick yesterday but spent the whole day sleeping. so I only got an hour or so of knitting in the evening done. Keep your fingers crossed!

Other then that, it's just been more of the same. Trying to scrub the house down for the shower, keep my head down and out of the drama, and trying to figure out how to take a nap at work.

Wednesday, March 5

Random update.

First, look at my car!Yeah! I still loves it. Even if it's a mom car. :)

Next, baby socks!
They're for a girl at work that's going to have her baby on Friday.

What? Baby? Why yes. There is one in my belly. Want to see? This is 28 weeks.

There. That's all I got.

Wednesday, February 27

Just step away from the yarn.

I did! I walked away! I had the pretties in my shopping cart, and I put them back and left. Aren't you proud?

So yeah, go buy the vesper so I don't. I don't know how long I can hold off.....

So, 2 weeks ago we bought a car. A Chrysler Pacifica to be exact. It's such a mom car. I almost feel like a grownup!

Also, Braxton Hicks = total suck. I'm beginning to worry about this whole... how the baby is going to come into the world part of pregnancy. I may have to start telling everyone I see in scrubs that I want drugs. Lots of drugs! :)

Tuesday, February 12

Civic duty? Check!

So I actually got picked to be on a jury yesterday. In a criminal case. I was totally freaked out, but it was really interesting and I'd totally do it again. I am still on call for the rest of my two weeks, so I have to call in every night after five to see if I have to show up.

Monday there was a little drama, at the metal detector. I had the choice to ditch my metal circular needles, or walk back to my car in below zero weather and leave them there. Yeah, guess what I did? I handed over my needles. They were only susan bates, so.. Whatever. I brought only bamboo needles today. They let them pass. So, you can get on a plane with metal needles, but not in a courthouse. Just in case you needed to know. Thankfully I did have back up knitting yesterday. And I only got to knit for a few hours. Poo. Today I got to knit during breaks. So it's all good.

Sunday, February 10

Too Cold!

It's too cold to do much today. I did go to the grocery store, and almost froze to death on the way home. We made our Green Chicken Chili for supper, and I've just been sitting around updating my Raverly page.

I finished the first of my husbands' socks. This was taken yesterday afternoon.
I finished it last night while watching the food network.

Also finished (well, except for the weaving parts) are my Vesper Socks.
Have I said that I love them yet? Because I do. I love them. They are the first ever socks that I have knit (and finished) for myself. Considering my stash is like 98% sock yarn, I better knit myself some more. :)

So for the next 2 weeks I'm on jury duty. I have to go in Monday morning. Can I tell you I'm freaking excited? It'll suck to make only 20 bucks a day, but I can knit while waiting. KNIT!!! I'm so happy you have no idea. I'm going to bring my mommy snug and probably the 2nd sock for my hubby. So. Excited.

Tuesday, February 5

Yes!

Check it. I totally got the fabric for my nursery today. (image stolen from craftyplanet.com)
This is going to be the main selection. When I get in it, I'll take it to the fabric stores and find some others that go with it. I'm planning a quilt, some curtains and a crib ruffle. So cute!

On a not so exciting note, our heat is screwed up. Again. A few weeks ago it went out, and hubby and his uncle fixed it, buy getting a new thermostat. Well, it's not working again. Poop. Hubby is going back to home depot, and uncle is coming back to poke around again. The heat will kick on, run a sec or two, then kick off. The temp is sitting at 63 degrees. Me and the dogs are under a blanket in front of the fire place. Thank god for that.

Monday, February 4

Musing on knitting monogamy

You know, it's really funny how much knitting you get done when you focus on one thing. I've been dragging around the sock for almost a week. I've turned the heel, and I'm working on the gusset. Yeah! And, this is with a size 12 sock. Of course, now that I've been good for a week, I had to pick up something else to work on. I've got a BSJ sitting around that I started, and now I want to get this done for charity.

But still, focusing on one thing really gets you progress. Go figure!

Anyway, I don't think that BSJ is going as fast as it should. Probably because I have to stop and count every 2 seconds, to make sure I haven't screwed up again. It's not that it's hard, it's not. I just can't seem to ever get the decrease in the right place.

Anyway. That's about all I've got for tonight. I haven't looked outside lately. Are we snowed in yet? Please? I want to stay in bed. All day. That would be grrrreat.

Okay, why does my check spelling button not work? why???

Sunday, February 3

I guess I lied.

No pictures of the vesper socks. I haven't woven in the ends yet. But, I shall post the socks I started tuesday night, after I had finished my vesper socks. They are socks for my husband. He picked out the yarn on our vacation. It's jitterbug, in the Sea Breeze colorway.

The yarn isn't quite as yellow as it appears. My colors are off due to night photography. But whatever. You gt the idea.

We got the insurance check in the mail last week for my car. (Finally!) And so now begins the fun of car shopping. I think currently I'm leaning towards getting a Ford Escape. Haven't test driven one yet, so I don't know if my hubby will fit in one, but they're cute and get pretty good gas mileage, and I think we should be able to fit 2 dogs and a baby in one. It doesn't seem like such a scary step up into a larger car than say, getting a mini van. :)

Friday, February 1

My brain is full of random thoughts.

And so, dear readers, I shall fill you with random thoughts.

I finished my Vesper socks. I shall take pictures tomorrow when the sun is out and I find my camera. I think my husband still has it after vacation.

Vacation was fun. It was the best ever. We ate lots of food, I met his friends (they like me!) and I got pretty yarn and jewelery. Which, I shall take pictures of, when I find my camera. (see above)

Have you ever heard of the movie Fido? Oh. My. God. I do love me a good zombie movie. But a good Zombie movie, set in circa 1950's? Hi-larious! Seriously. Due yourself a favor. Add this to your netflicks cache.

Sunday, January 20

Knitting ADHD..

Seriously. I've got it bad. Just reading over my last post should prove it. How many freaking things do I think I'll have time to work on during my 4 day, 3 night vacation. Seriously. Am I planning on being alone with nothing to do for 2 days straight?

Ugh. I think I'll just stick to a sock. I'll bring along my vesper sock, all I have to do is turn the heel on the second one and then the rest is cake. Maybe I'll bring the baby surprise jacket I've started (for charity) and call it good. Small and portable. They'll take up no room in my bag.

Put the crib together today. It's all to surreal to see it put together in the baby room. Weird. Still not used to the whole idea yet. :)

Ugh. I think I need to take a scalding shower and head to bed. I'm tired. But I don't want it to be Monday yet. Unless I can skip to Monday at about 6 pm. My parents are coming for a visit.

Saturday, January 19

Hell week. Over? yes?

Ugh. Last week was bad. very bad indeed. My work moved, so this week was the first one in our new building. Which is lovely and not yet finished and that's why I live in the break room. Which sucks around 11:30 when everyone eats and I still have to work. And it sucks when there's lots of meeting int he break room, as the conference rooms aren't finished yet either.

So, on top of the move, and getting used to the new set up, I got a killer cold, and was actually out sick on Tuesday. I think (hope) that I'm over the worst of it, but now it seems my husband has come down with it. Ugh. My head was so plugged up, that my teeth hurt. It was miserable.

So, we leave for Arizona on Thursday. we're boarding the puppies at Sam and Danni's. We've boarded Cleo there before, and she used to go there for puppy day care. So I'm sure they'll be fine. I have to decide what knitting I can bring. I think I want to maybe bring my brothers sweater, and the Mommy snug I've been working on. Plus a sock or two for plane knitting. I think I've got my hubby agreed to hitting a yarn store or two while we're out there. Yeah! Yarn!

Oh, and I forgot. We found out last week we're having a boy. So I might bring along a Baby Surprise Jacket to knit. I think I might use Vespers' Knit and Tonic colorway. Either that or Tainted Love.

So, today is a day for laundry, running errands, and hiding under a blanket, as it's so freaking cold outside. Stupid winter.

Monday, January 7

It's so on.

My vacation that is.

Jan 24-27th. Phoenix AZ. Woot woot. :)

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Nic. I didn't forget about you. :)

Sunday, December 30

2days left?

So I did hair for a wedding yesterday, and the bride actually got teary eyed (the good kind!) when she saw her hair. Which made me get all teary eyed. Best. Reaction. Ever.

Anyway. I gots me some guilt free money, and I need to spend it. At first I thought I would buy some clothes or something useful, but I can still wear most of my normal wardrobe. And I have got a lot of hand me down maternity clothes, so I said... screw it! I'm buying knitting goodies.

First thing on my list? EZ's book The Opinionated Knitter. Can you believe I don't own this book yet? So sad. I might also pick up the Knitters Almanac while I'm at it.

Oooo! I think I'm going to get me some socks that rock too. Because I can. It's guilt free money. Remember?

Anyway. Lets see.. what else.... Jan 8th! It's coming up soon. That's when we get our ultrasound. I'm super excited. But, I'm trying to not get to excited, I'm betting the baby will be shy and we won't get to find out what it is. But... here's hoping! :) I gotta get my butt in gear and finish my mommy snug. That's the sweater I had issues with and frogged a ton a couple weeks back. I think it's sat int he naughty corner long enough.

Monday, December 24

Merry Dogmas!

Happy Holidays from Me and Mine to You and Yours.
(if we do this to our dogs, can you imagine what we'll do to our kid?)

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Cleo! She turns 4 today. We got her a stuffed duck. She killed it already.

Thursday, December 13

In bed.

That's right. Right now, I'm at home, in bed.
Why? You ask? Because last night on my way home from work I was rear ended. And boy, do I feel like crap today.

Evey body's fine. Went to the ER and hear the heartbeat (140 bpm) so that's all well and good. But I think my car is not so fine, and my husband thins I should get a new minivan. (hells no!)

So. I'm in bed. Snuggled with my dogs.

Thank god for laptops and wireless internets.

Monday, December 3

Sometimes...

There is only two words. F*ck me.

Yeah. So I picked up some knitting that had been laying around. Feeling good, I was cursing along. I had split up a v-neck and I had half of one side done. I picked it up, and finished one side, and was almost done with the second side when I realized that I was 6 stitches off. One side was almost 2 inches larger then the other. F*ck. So. I frogged back to the beginning of the v-neck split, and I'm starting over again.

Sunday, December 2

Yeah Snow!

Hubby and I cleaned out the garage yesterday. So the cars are safely tucked in away from all the mean nasty snow. Yesterday we just puttered around the house, and I stayed in my jammies for as long as humanly possible. Today we're going out to eat with his family. Which is a good thing, as Ive been craving mozzarella cheese sticks with ranch dressing for the past 2 days. Yum...

No knitting as of yet, but I did work on cleaning up the craft room a little. I really need a hat, now that it's winter, and I'm stuck on what to knit. I just bought a new jacket that's black and red. But 75% of the yarn I have in my stash is a shade of pink. So, do I clash? Does it matter if my hat doesn't match my jacket? Plus, the yarn I bought to make mittens is A)pink and brown or B)black purple and lime green. Huh. Maybe I'm just not meant to match.

Sunday, November 25

Well, there's nothing much here to report.
No knitting has happen since... um.. September.

Aside from that....

Yeah. It's boring here really. You don't want to hear about how I cleaned the ouse this weekend. Or ate my weight in turkey and stuffing.

So. Yeah. Maybe December will be a better month.

Friday, November 9

Well.

I guess since it's like all offical and stiff I can post it.

I'm pregnant. 12 weeks on Tuesday. Due May 29th.

Had the first doctor appointment today, we got to hear the heartbeat. Too freaking weird, and super cool, and scary, all at once. :)

Tuesday, October 30

Halloween?

Tommorrow? When did that happen.

Can't type with dogs sleeping on the laptop.....

I so need to:
A) take a nap
B) hire a maid
C) hire a maid so I can take a nap.

Nothing happening here. Very little knitting. I keep trying to knit, and then I need to sleep. Lots of sleep. Had been feeling better up until Sunday, then I felt like ass again and laid on the couch all day, watching bad horror movies. Today, I feel a bit better, but still ass like. Maybe a little better. Like just the butt crack, not the whole ass.

Saturday, October 27

Why...?

Am I always a day late and a dollar short?

So I really want to knit this pattern(link to ravelry. Sorry) Anyway. So, I want to knit it, and it's no longer available. Poop! I don't like the Opal version (vertical stripes). Well. Story of my life I guess. :P

Felling pretty good today. Got a little knitting on my Monkey sock done. Still way way way behind. Must remember to notify my swap pal. And bribe her for forgiveness. :)

Wednesday, October 24

More Socks! Yeah!

I got my Monkeys in the mail on Sat. Thank you so much! All the goodies were wonderful! :)

Pictures when I find my camara.

Friday, October 12

Yeah socks!

Sorry I've been MIA lately. So sick. All I do is sleep and try not to throw up. Fun times. :)

Anyway, I got BOTH my sock packages in the mail, and I love my socks. Thank you Momma Monkey and Aitara. You two are too kind.

So, off to take a bath and the sleep.

Thursday, September 27

Not much to report here. There has been no knitting as of late. I didn't quite finish Maya's sweater, which is fine. She'll get it on my birthday then. :) I've been feeling a little under the weather, so I get home and crash. I don't think I've knit anything in a week. Ack!

Plus, lots of family drama. Again. Argh! I'm just going to pack up my hubby and the dogs and move off into the woods somewhere. That'll solve things...right?

Sunday, September 16

ack!

Ravelry = the devil.

Seriously. All the pretty photos makes me want to cast on new and exciting projects. But I can't!! I must finish my niece's sweater (Friday is her b-day) I've joined that monkey swap so I have to knit those, but I don't think that will sooth my casting on urge. I want to knit mittens. Lots and lots of mittens. Tons even. But I mustn't!! So sad.

My little dog was FREEZING on Friday, so I made him some new jammies. They alpine fleece and have sushi all over them. So cute! Must get a photo to post.

That is all. Off to knit. Or, do laundry. One of the two.

Wednesday, September 12

Dude!

If I ever say I need more sock yarn.... smack me upside the head. Seriously.

Oh, and Cpurl won the yarn. Email me will you? :)

Sunday, September 9

yeah!

Thank you all for donating to the puppy walk. I promised a drawing today and well.... I liead. I shall do it tomorrow. Because I am lazy, and sore, and I need to go to bed now.

Sunday, September 2

New month. New projects.

I cast on 2 new projects today. The first one is that sweater for my brother, that has taken me a freaking year to find a decent pattern for. Attempt #3 is going to be "Cobblestone" from the laterst interweave knits.

And the second is a hat for my niece. But when she makes a request for knitting, how can you say no? :)

Friday, August 31

Dude!

Must. Stop. Surfing. Raverly.

Hey! My user name in valkryie. Add me so I feel cool. :)

Socks!

I just finished the toe on the second swap sock. All I have ti di us block, make sure I've picked out the dog hair, and mail them off! :)

Yeah! Well ahead of the deadline.

Holy Golden Carp Batman!

I think I may, someday.. be invited to Raverly.

I heard about it, and thought it would be a lot of work. And then, heard about it some more... and finally, I heard about it again! So, being the lemming I am, I joined. On June 23. Now, currently there are 346 people ahead of me.

I'm starting the toe on my second swap sock! woot woot!

Saturday, August 25

Socks! Lots of socks!

Sorry for the crappy dark picture. I snapped it before I wrapped them up. I used leftover yarn from Cpurl17's socks, and the pattern was Matthews leftover baby socks.

Next up, only singles. :)
First up, AquaMelon from Vesper. It's knit in garter rib, from Sensational Knitted Socks, the first.

Next, my swap sock for the Knitty Sock Swap. It's out of Tufootsie, pattern is 'foot the bill' from the Soysilk page.

Last up, finished last night. It's knitpicks yarn, handdyed by me. Just a generic sock pattern.

Friday, August 17

HEY! A Contest! Of sorts.

I decided to do it. I'm going to do the Tri-County Humane Society walk this year.

You like my puppies?

http://www.firstgiving.com/knelsen

Go give them monies. They promise to walk really nicely.

The contest part? You donate something, even 1 dollar, and I'll enter you in a drawing to win a prize. Just post a little note here or something there to let me know you donated, and then on the day of the walk (or day after) I will randomly draw a winner. For every 10 donations, I will toss in another prize.

Prize #1

1 skein of Yarn Pirate in Inferno colorway (picture stolen from the Yarn Pirate herself. Hey, it's her yarn, it's a good picture, and it's raining out here, so no good photos right now. )

Very bad. No good day.

Dog ate my knitting needles. No idea what size I was using, and I can't find a piece big enough to measure.

Feel like crap. Need a nap. Belly button infected.

Wednesday, August 15

Vesper!

I got home from work, and some vesper just fell into my shopping cart and I paid for it. No idea how that happened.

Know what? There's still some left as of 10:33 pm. Dude. Go buy me some Astro. :) I was good. I only got 2 skeins. Which brings my count to.... 6? or is it 8? And how many socks knitted from it? Exactly 1 1/4.

Anyway. Still alive. felling better. Still feel like I got hit by a truck. But now it's just a little truck.
And, my belly button is bruised. So weird looking.

Friday, August 10

I made it!

Survived my lap today.

I guess they found some Endo on my left ovary, which caused it to stick to my uterus and cause all the pain.

Lasered it off, and we're good to go.

Now if I can just git rid of all the CO2 they pumped in, I'll be golden.

Sunday, July 29

I picked up some supplies to make Bauble yesterday. I really want to start it, but I'm trying to be good and finish cleaning the house first. :) I want to do a heavy 'spring clean'. I've started in the bedroom, and I'm tossing out (well. giving to goodwill actually) things I haven't worn in a while, or stuff that just doesn't fit right anymore. Then a good dust and vacuum, and I may even do the windows. But, my goal is to be done with the whole house before my surgery on the 10th, so I can be lazy for about a week or so. I'm sure it won't take that long to recover, but I'd like to just not feel guilty about being lazy. I'm planning a Buffy marathon and lots of knitting.

I've been working on making some baby socks for one of my coworkers wives. They had a baby on Tuesday. So, I must knit socks. I have the toe to do on the second one, then weave up the ends and done! I should get that finished today. I also need to weave int he ends of my swap socks, and get them in the mail on Monday.

I think that's about all the news that is news. Once I finish those baby socks, I'll post a picture. They're just too cute not to share.

Sunday, July 22

Sunburn and Socks.

So, I finally blocked those socks. So, here's a picture. I hope my sock pal doesn't mind me spoiling her surprise. :)

I just love the colors is in this sock. I'm normally not a yellow person, but for this yarn, I'd change me stance on yellow. The yarn is from Scouts Swag. It's Puesta del Sol. 350 yards of Superwash/tencel light sport weight. Knit on a size 2 needle.
The pattern is from Nancy Bush's book "Knitting Vintage Socks" it's "Fancy Silk Sock".

Here's the pair. I really need to get myself some decent sock blockers. Can you tell where my homemade ghetto fabulous ones ended? Yeah, wire hangers are cheap, but they're just not long enough.

Oh to the sunburn!

We went to the lake yesterday.
These pictures are actually from the last time we wet, but... same lake, same dogs. Who would know?

Siris loves the water. Loves it. Now, Cleo I can understand. She's part lab. But the Italian Greyhound? He gets cold super fast. He'll stop playing and just start shivering. In 80 degree weather. So that's when I have to pick him up, and wrap him up in a towel.

What a strange little dog.

Anyway, after being out in the sun for a little while, both Hubby and I are burnt. It sucks. I went from "hey... no color" to "hey! Lobster girl!" in like... 10 seconds. The aloe is getting liberally applied often.

I did finish knitting my AquaMelon sock. I started the second one yesterday. I love it. Now I know why vesper yarn is so coveted. It's lovely.

Thursday, July 19

Update.

So I finished the yellow socks. Yeah! I just need to block them and they can go to their new home.

That is all.

Friday, July 13

Shit-tastic.

That is how my week has been. Yours?

I'm so freaking happy that this week from hell is over. I have a Margarita in my hand, and life will get better.

Oh, and to top it off, I just realized I left my knitting at work. Fuck. I was so going to finish knitting my sock.

Thursday, July 5

Dear Ovary. I hate you.

So yesterday went sort of like this.

get up.
go to couch.
Lay down all day.
Get up.
take shower.
Go lay on couch.
get up.
go to bed.

Yeah. Fun. Anyone want to buy a slightly damaged ovary?

I <3 Nerds!

My score on The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test:

Pure Nerd

(69 % Nerd, 39% Geek, 34% Dork)

For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.

The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.

Congratulations!

Not exploded.

I made it! My ovary didn't kill me! :)

Also. Totally not fair. I thought I had completed my collection of Vesper yarn, when I suddenly see colorways that I haven't seen before. Namely "tequila sunrise" and "in the wildwood" Poop! I totally could have bought some too. I was home, I was just avoiding the update. :) Ah well. I guess I shall start stalking her shop next time. Since I really need to pay for breaks on my car, and not more yarn.

Tomorrow we leave for our vacation! Woo! I've got my clothes packed, and I almost have all my yarn packed.

The Day my Ovary exploded.

Yup. That's right. I've got another ovarian cyst. Woo! Joy!

I made it to work today, but ended up leaving and going to the doctor. Because I just love getting wanded up the woo-hoo.

Apparently it's 3 centimeters big, and shouldn't cause my ovary to totally explode. But, it hurts like a mother trucker. And the Tylenol-3 only takes the edge off.

I'm going to go lay down and sleep now.

Crappy Picture. Pretty Sweater.

Well, I didn't get all the billion ends woven in yet, or buttons. But it is done.
It fits like a dream. Seriously, I can't wait to finish this thing and wear it. Even if it's 90 degrees outside. I don't care.

A sweater that soon will be.

So. Anyone want to sew this up for me? Pretty please?

I still need to go get some buttons for the thing. I'm thinking I'm going to go hit the craft store today, and hopefully fine some buttons.

I found a mistake on my sock, and had to rip it back four rows. I've worked on it last night after I finished my sweater, so I feel less guilty now.

I have 2 fulls skeins left over of the yarn for this sweater. So.. now what to make. Baby sweater? Hmm... swap it away? Keep it on hand for a just in case project? I just can't believe I didn't use it all up. I got gauge, so that's not an issue. (I learned that on on my 17th attempt to knit organina) I may have bought one extra skein "just in case" But still. Boo on having too much extra yarn.

Here's what I'm thinking on bringing to the lake for my vacation knitting.
1) swap sock.
2) sock to be determined out of vesper yarn for me
3) Sweater for my niece (needs to be cast on)
4) Sweater for my brother (needs to be frogged and recast on)

Too big of a list? I know I'm going to have 2 full days of knitting. Plus half of one had and the rides there and back. I might cut the list down a little. I'll see how much room I have to pack. :)
