Dogs in Sweaters

Well, this is the best pic I could get of Siris' sweater, which totally doesn't show the cables. But try to tel him that. :)

Also, a teaser for Cpurl.

As I was taking a picture, he had to stick his head in, and try to take the socks.

Well, that's all I got. I'm feeling icky today, so I'm off to get a heating pad and the TV remote. I thin it's a pizza for supper type of night. :)

Friday, March 2

Hubby's Uncle just came and plowed us out. Hooray! I think.... I guess that means I have to go to work on Monday. ;)

And today, I finished another dog sweater.

I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Snow Update

Today, the dog won't even go outside. there's too much snow. It's almost 10 am and she won't go out to go potty. Crazy Dog.

I get to stay home, on account on the fact that it woud take me 3 years to shovel out my driveway. So, I'm going to get a bunch of housework done, and the watch bad day time television.

Ahh... I love snow days.

Thursday, March 1

Snow! More Snow!

That's the view off of my deck. Lots of snowy goodness. And more to come.

And I'm totally prepared. Last night I picked up two bottles of wine. :D

They let me go home early from work, so I've changed into my jammies, and I"m going to go sit in front of the tv and veg out one bad day time tv. I can't wait. :)

Tuesday, February 27

WoOt!

This is what I did when I got my Package from the Lovely Cpurl17

Well, maybe I didn't jump THAT high... but still.

And you would too, if you got the socks I did.

Seriously. It's like she climbed into my head, and pulled out all the fluff, and made the most perfect socks for me.

And, there was chocolate scent body wash (which I used last night... love it!) and Candy! And pink and brown yarn! Soooo soft.

Thank you so much! I love them. Seriously. I really do.

Monday, February 26

Woo hoo!

I just got the best package ever. EVER!

Socks, candy, yarn Oh my!

But the batteries are dead. So I will show you tomorrow. I promise.

Thank you Cpurl17. I love them. You are too good to me!

Saturday, February 24

I'm totally all about cables suddenly. It's like.. all these years of being scared of them, I've secretly been wishing I was knitting them. And now... boom! Cables. All the time. On the brain.

I want to make this sweater so badly. I just need a baby to fill it, since it appears that my brother is turning down my offer to knit for his baby. Freak. I told him to pick a color, I'm ordering yarn. Today. That was at 9 am. Did he get back to me? NOOOooooO! So, Should I pick out my own color, or say screw it, and knit one as a conception sweater part 2? I'm leaning to the second option. Crap! It appears that knitpicks has lost my account. Bastards. I hate hate hate filling in order cart info. They said they have no record of my email address. And this stupid fucking keyboard won't work! It loses like... every third letter. Hate it!

I'm filled with anger tonight. Anger and cables.

Ha. I ordered some for me. ME! I got some lovely purple yarn. You can't go wrong with purple.

Off to knit more on my Zen Socks. ;)

yes! Snow!

Snow means I can sit inside and knit. That I don't have to feel guilty about it. Guilty that I should be vacuuming because hey, it's snowing out!

I finished a sweater for Siris. It's cabled even! (go me!)

Yeah, well, You can't see the sweater too well. But aren't they too freaking cute?

Yes. Yes they are.

I am going to finish my sock pal sock this weekend if it kills me. I finally finished turning the heel, and I"m on to decreasing gusset for the foot. Very Nice. CPURL17 you WILL have a pair of socks! I promise. :) I got dumped on once in a swap, and I totally would never do that to anyone. Guilt knitting! Well, it's really not that bad. I just hate knitting the hell flap. Once I turn it, I'm good to go.

I just wish I could be watching a nice movie on TV, instead of the nephews playing video games. Oh sweet Jesus! It's repetitive.

Wednesday, February 14

Pics for CPurl17

So, here's proof that I've been knitting.
And here is my Buddha hanging out with the sock. Here's the toe. And, a hair. My hair, not a dog hair. Really... it is. I promise! :D

The second picture shows the color closest to the real on. At least on my screen it is.

Tuesday, February 6

Catching up!

So I got tagged with that 6 weird things meme. So here goes.

6. I'm left handed. While that's not WEIRD weird. It is weird. Esp. when you're sitting in class, discussing how they think lefties are twin that absorbed their twin in the womb, and you're the only lefty in a class of 25 students, and they all stare at you horrified. Good times.

5. I married my husband twice.

4. I tend to leave my toe nails longer than most people. Not tree climbing long, but longer then most. I like to polish them dark colors, and they look better if they're not stubby short.

3. Ever see the show Bullshit? (It's good) After watching that show, I totally have the hots for Penn. Freak? you bet. But then again, I like tall, intellectual men. :D

2. I'm always cold. Always.

1. I think my left ovary is the only one that works. I always get ovulation pain on that side. Like, since July of 06 I've only gotten the pain on the right side once. ONCE! Hello, ovary, would you , maybe... I don't know..... work?

There. If you made it thru this, and haven't done this thing yet, consider yourself tagged.

But I'm not dead yet!

really. I'm not.

Just been super busy with the insurance company, and temp at a place.

Here's the highlights:
Finished one sock on Sunday. Cast on for another. (cpurl17!)
Siris went in for his neuter today.
I finished then back of his new sweater. Holy crap I finally got cables.

um...

Yeah. That's it I guess.

Wednesday, January 31

Blast Again!

Well poop.

I had the money for The Rocking Socks club, but then they returned it, and now... I'm close. But not quite.

Oh well. I'll live. I'll just live vicariously thru Nic. ;)

Tuesday, January 30

Blast!

Some knucklehead broke into the gallery last night.

No art was hurt, but they stole some cash, 2 digital cameras, a cell phone and smashed up our register.

Bah.

I'm going to go take a hot bath.

Friday, January 26

Crazy Funtime.

My husbands' birthday is tomorrow. So I decided to make him a cake. Not any cake, a VOLCANO CAKE!! I'll be making it tonight, then freezing it, as everything I read about cake decorating says frozen cakes hold up better. Then I'll be decorating it for Sunday, when we're going out with the family. Now I can't decide if I should bring it to the restaurant where we're going to eat, (and possibly embarrass the hell out of my husband) Or, bring the family over for cake afterwards. I even found little dinosaurs to put around the cake. I think I may place as many dinosaurs on the cake as he is old, but that might be too many dinosaurs! :D I guess I'll just have to see how it works out. I'm super excited to make it. Seriously, I've been looking forward to this all freaking week!

Tomorrow, I think we'll be going to a gallery opening, and having super at a restaurant near the gallery. Never been to either place, so this should be fun. I hope.

CPurl17 This one's for you!

Because I am LAME and forgot my camera at home, I must show you links. I am sorry for that. :)

If you love any of these, great! If not, don't feel bad, I will keep searching. :)

Artyarns? It's like this one, with a little more purple, but not as much as this one.

Scouts' Swag? appletini? Bluetini? Storm Surge?

Yarn Pirate? Tangle? Rosie? String Theory? Earth and Ocean? Inferno? Sweetheart?

Any colorways you see there that you love? I've got quite a store of Scouts Swag and Yarn Pirate. So let me know if you see anything that makes you drool. :D

Dog sweater status

I finished a doggie sweater, and I"ll be sending it off to the GPA arts and craft fair. Because it is too big for Siris, and I'm a sucker for helping out animals. We looking at getting a retire racer, and this way I can still help.

Siris has some new jammies. A matching pair will also be sent. Hopefully I can turn out one more set before I have to mail the stuff off on Friday.

How I spent my Sunday Afternoon

Well, I've gone and done it.

I made up my own pattern. And as soon as I'm done test knitting to make sure it's correct, I'll post it here. 'Cuz I love to share. :D

Oh, It's not a sweater or anything. It's a felted dog toy. Yup. That confirms it my Crazy Dog Lady status.

Saturday, January 20

*faints*

I just scored some Vesper Sock yarn!!

YESSSS!!!

Fine.

You WIN blogger.

There. You hear me? YOU WIN!!

I give up. New templates all around. At least I can see the writing on this now.

I. Hate. You. Blogger.

I hate you with a passion. Why did you screw up my header, causing me to accidentaly load up a fresh new template? Thus causing me to lose everything? I blame you as well for Ringsurf saying I don't exist.

Hate. You.

Work damn it!

Knitting? Here? Me?

Well, I have been knitting. All my knitting is int he car, and It's cold and I'm lazy so I will take pictures later. in the Dog sweater KAL, I dusted off Cleo's sweater, and, well, that's about it. Though I did cast on another little sweater. Not sure if I'm making it for Siris or to donate. I guess we'll see how it goes.

I've been knitting like mad on the Morale Builder stockings. They will take me forever! size1 needles! ack! I think I've got about 8 inches done.

So, instead of knitting pictures, I shall post dog photos.

Mom,

I totally look silly in these jammies.

And this is how Siris likes to sleep. Curled up ON Cleo. Notice she is not amused. :)

Saturday, January 13

So cold!

I am freezing today! I'm actually wearing long johns (tops and bottoms) under my clothes today. Bah! Too cold!

And speaking of cold, I got the sweetest pattern for little fleece jammies for Siris. I went to Joann Fabrics, and they were on sale, but STILL out of the one I wanted. Pissed, I ran over to Hancock Fabrics, only to discover they were on sale there too! Yes! So. I think I shall be sewing jammies this weekend. I already have a buttload of fleece. :)

Starting on the Morale Builder Stockings. I shall be knitting these things forever! Size one needles! Yikes! Oh well, they will be worth it right? I just hope that my legs aren't too chubby for them.

Not much else going on. Pretty dull here today actually. But it could just be the cold. :)

Monday, January 8

Not much to report today.

I haven't checked to see if my muppet sweater is dry yet. It should be by now.

I bought yarn when I went to visit Nic yesterday. I have yarn to make those lovely Morale Builder stockings. Love them!

Dogs are crazy.

That is all.

Saturday, January 6

Guess what's blocking!

The conception sweater! I finally blocked it. Since I was blocking my pink Muppet sweater, I figured I might as well block that one too. Yeah for blocking!

I have to keep the door closed to the spare bedroom, as the dogs think it's really, really super fun to jump on the bed and lay down on wet sweaters. Whatever. Weird dogs!

I can't wait to wear the Muppet sweater. I think I may have to were it tomorrow when I go to visit Nic. :) Yeah for fuzzy pink goodness. yeah for finishing something on January 5th this year! My last finished project of the year was on February 7th, so I totally rocked it this year.

Friday, January 5

lap cold?

You need a puppy to keep it warm!

Puppies are good for keeping laps warm.

Except when they fart.

Pink Muppet Sweater!

Remember the pink Muppet sweater? I have 1 row to finish, then bind off. Then block and weave and I'm done. DONE! The pattern is from Interweave Knits and the Yarn is Cherry Tree Hill in Cyclamen. I didn't bring it with today, Ill finish it when I get home and hopefully get it blocked right away. I want to wear it soon! So Fuzzy.

Wednesday, January 3

I should change my blog name

to dogs in sweaters. Because that's all I post lately. :)

I started this on the 29th and finished it on the 30th. So that's my last completed knit for 2006. And that brings my count of finished things to.... *drum roll please* 29 things.

Here's the break down
mittens: 2 pair
felted diaper bags : 2
baby hats: 9 (I think... I may be missing a couple)
dog sweaters: 6 2 for Siris, 4 for other dogs. None yet for Cleo. :(
baby sweaters: 3
Socks: 3 pair
Scarf: 1
Vest: 1
Random other things: 2 (wings and a bear sweater)

Things I knitted for myself... 1. Sizzle. How fair is that?

Tuesday, January 2

2007? Really?

Holy Hell, where did the year go?

I can't believe it's January already! ack!

No much happening as of late. Went to Space Aliens last night to celebrate my nephew's 8th birthday. Played some games and got super sick off the food. Fun Fun fun.

I finished the little sweater I started. Go me! I've just got to wake Siris up to take a photo of him in it. I'm kind of curious to see how many projects I finished this year. I've got them all written down, and most have photos in my knitting journal. But to sit down and count them up?

Hmm.... That could be interesting. Any bets?

Hershey's with brownies tastes like ass. Don't eat them. They sound good, but they are not.

I woke up with a migraine today. I feel like ass. It sucks. I really wanted to stay in bed all day today. I probably would have if my Hubby hadn't moved the TV out of the bedroom. I would have just stayed in bed and watched Buffy all day.

Crap! Now I think my digital camera just died. Just want I needed! It's got weird lines running across the screen, and they show up when I bring the image on to my computer. crap crap crap.
I've still got Xmas money, but I wanted to spend it on the Socks that Rock club. New camera or more yarn? I made a goal of not buying yarn for a month, and the socks that rock club doesn't count....but I really need a camera. The one I have I got... oh... for Xmas 97? I think. So I know it's time for a new one....

Saturday, December 30

What? It's the end of December?

I started on the Adirondack sweater for my brother. I got gauge! Yeah! now if I could only read the pattern right the first time. :P I screwed up the increases, so I frogged. It was only 2 rows. Now, having fully read the pattern, without the TV or dogs to distract me, I see where I made me error.

I started a sweater for Siris. It's super cute. I'm using Noro, and the pattern is from the book Stylish Knits for Dogs. It's a simple little turtle neck, but super cute with the Noro yarn. I think I may be spoiling this dog. Hand wash sweaters? Who has time for that? Apparently I do.

Quite day at the shop today. Hopefully knitting will get done. Then after work it's off to hit another Xmas celebration.

Thursday, December 28

Tuesday night there was knitting. Yeah for knitting. Jenna showed up to knit with me. She even finished her socks while she was here.

I started the little dress that goes along with the Conception Sweater. Yes, I could have made the little rompers, but the dress is just too freaking cute. I've got one row to go and I get to start the eyelet pattern. I'd take a photo to share, but my head hurts and the lighting is crap and I'm just too lazy. So there.

I've started swatching for my brothers' sweater. And I'm doing it right, I cast on in the round and I'm knitting more then one inch. I hope I will be rewarded with a sweater that fits like.... well, like it was made for him.

I really want to cast on a little dog sweater, but I haven't yet. I just carry it around in my bag.

And on a side note, I am the QUEEN of Wii bowling. I can't bowl in real life, but I can get 6 pares in a row, followed by a strike. I rock.

Tuesday, December 26

Did everyone survive the Holidays?

Know what sucks? Casting on 300 stitches on a size 1 needle and knitting for 7 rows before you finally accept that you've twisted all your stitches.

Yeah. I didn't have a long enough circular needle for 300 stitches, and the only shop that was open only had the same size I had. So I bravely cast on and hoped for the best.

I went and bought a longer circular needle today.

I ordered yarn for my vest. I got the pattern fro that and the one fro my brothers sweater as well. I'm planning on starting that one soon, since I have the yarn at home.
So much for finishing all the other projects I have laying around. :D

Saturday, December 23

How many?

How many Christmas's can one person celebrate? If I remember correctly, the first year my Hubby and I were dating we hit seven. Yes. Seven Christmas's. This year, we have only five to hit. And the fun starts today. Woo! I shall eat until I explode. :)

I have a new fetish. Eunny's Argyle Sweater Vest. I. must. knit. it. I'm thinking in Brown sheep Nature Spun Sport weight. In either a pink/green combo or a pink/brown combo. Or, to throw all caution to the wind, a turquoise/brown mix. Thoughts? Feelings? Nic will you help me steek? :)

On the sewing front, I just picked up the cutest dog sweater patterns. I shall be sewing Siris up some little jackets. Lucky dude.

Friday, December 22

I FINISHED!

I finished knitting all my presents! All that needs to be done is some weaving in of the ends and I can wrap them up. yeah yeah yeah! So Happy!

Now, I can start on whatever I want to knit. Maybe something for me. A shrug. Or some socks. *happy dance*

Thursday, December 21

Hello? Is this thing on?

So, I may have switched to Beta. But we'll see.

So. Sick. of. Christmas. Knitting.

On a happy note, I got to meet Christy on Tuesday night. She braved the drive and my crazy assed dogs to come to stitch n bitch. Yeah Christy!

Um....

It snowed.

um...

Yeah. I got nothing.

Wednesday, December 20

So. Tired.

I am tired of knitting what is currently in my knitting bag. But I must. keep. knitting.

Why? Because it's for a Christmas present. Bah! I should be done within the next couple of days if I keep plugging away. But still. I want to knit somethign for ME! Or more puppy sweaters. :)

I want to make the Hug Shrug but I can't decied what to make it in. I have some lovely Lambs Pride in Lotus pink, or some Rowan Cork in Bug. At least I think it's bug. It's either Bug or Sour.

So... Hot pink or Lime Green?

I was thinking of swapping/selling my cork. But if I could get some use out of it, that would be good. And I'm sure there would be leftovers, and my dog could use a little lime green sweater.... right? But then again, I really like pink. :D

Friday, December 15

Siris has a Sweater!

I finished his sweater last night. Well, I have to do the sleeve steeks yet, but his little legs fit just right. I may hold off on those for awhile. It's also sized big enough that he'll grow into it.

Thursday, December 14

PSA

Hey Nic! Do you think this pattern will work for all the WOTA I have? I think I have 21 skeins which would make it 2310 yds. :) Oh yea, your blogger hates me, I can't post comments. :)

So I had my brother steal some wire hangers from my mother, and her Hedra socks are blocking as we speak. I can't wait to see them dry. And to see if blocking really makes that big of difference.

I have an urge to knit mittens. Lativan Mittens. Maybe it has something to do with this article? I dug out my Folk Mittens and my Magnificent Mittens books. We'll see what I come up with. Oh, amd anyone can get me this book. I've been drooling over it for years. :)

Working on a little sweater for Osiris. It's out of some leftover lambs pride I had laying around. I think it's sized for when he's full grown. I hope I don't run out! It's getting to the very last bit of the skein. He may not get sleeves! :D

Other then that, just finishing up some projects before I start any new ones. I'd love to get all my stuff done before the first of the year, Well, all except the shawl. I'll never finish it that quickly.

Saturday, December 9

Finished!

I finished my Mom's Socks last night.

They're Hedra, in Knitpicks Sock Garden in the color Zinna.

Picture is crap.. the big blue counter doesn't seem to like socks.

I wanted to block these before my Mom gets them. I wanted to use the super easy wire hanger method in Stitch and Bitch nation. But, I have NO WIRE HANGERS! EVER! Weird huh? Not one single wire hanger in my house.

I may have to get some from a family member.

Friday, December 8

All I want for Xmas is...

A PUPPY!

Please Santa, please send me a bag full of unmarked 20 dollars bills so I can adopt this puppy. I promise I will be good and eat all my green beans and take out the garbage and stuff.

Whatever you have to do to get a puppy, I promise I will do.

Random Thoughts

So. It's quite at the gallery, so I'm thinking maybe this would be a good place to work on the Viennese Shrug from way back when. I ended up frogging it because I screwed up. But here, where it's quite... I think it could work.

I have a couple loose skeins of Cascade 220 laying around. I'm thinking of starting Conception Sweater number 2 out of one of them. Do I make a green one (like Maya's) or a burgandy one? Oh, and I totally lied. I only started the conception sweater one back in May. I said I started it in January. I totally lied. I'm sorry.

What I really need to make are some arm warmers. My hands are SO FREAKING COLD! My little space heater is cranked and it's only 61 degrees in here. Which sounds warm when it's cold outside, but my hands...they are like ice.

I turned the heel on my Moms' sock yesterday. Now I'm on the downward spiral! woo!

Um... yeah. I got nothing really I guess.

Monday, December 4

Two posts? In one day?

So, here's what I knitted for the Knitty Another Knitted Thing Swap

FUZZY FEET! Knit out of ONE SKEIN of Cascade 220. How COOL is that? ONE FREAKING SKEIN!

Also knit out of ONE SKEIN of Cascade 220 is Maya's xmas present.

Since she's only two months old, I think it's safe to say I won't ruin xmas.
I used the Knitting Pure and Simple Babies neck down cardigan in 6 months Size. The pattern called for 400 yards of worseted weight. Now, how the hell did I knit this with only ONE SKEIN?? This is how much I had left from the first one.Three and a half yards.

It's magic I tell you. Well, my theory is that I didn't knit the hood. If I had, I would have needed more yards. I think it's a sound theory.

I think I may knit my next conception sweater out of the leftovers. It worked last time for me, so I hope it will work again. But this time I'm sewing buttons on right away.

Ive been knitting my Mom's second Hedra sock. And let me tell you. I hate HATE hate knitting heels. I like every other part of sock knitting. But the heel flap. It sucks. Sl 1 P1. Knit your way back. Do this one thousand times. ARGH! I think I'm half way done with it, so then I will be on to the fun parts again.

Up next to knit? An Ipod cozy for my brother. Because he claims I've never knit for him. Like eleventybillion mittens for his wedding don't count enough. Or something. ;)

Oh. And to prove we actually work around here....
Here's a picture of Cleo. Hard at work at the Gallery.

I knit!

I finished that pair of mittens I started last week. Finally! I knitted up the first one on Monday, and then the second took me all week to finish. Did I hit some weird quantime worm hole or something? How does that work? I also finished the sweater yesterday I was knitting for Maya for Christmas. It's super cute.

I'm sitting here at work surfing the net, with my dog. I should start knitting. I have to finish my Mom's socks one of these days. :)

Actual Knitting!

So, I realized it's been forever sine I posted any pictures. So. I am posting pictures today of what I've been really working on steady the last few days.

First up, the conception sweater. I've been working on this since..Oh... January. It's been a long haul, mostly because with this one, if it wasn't done right, I'd frog back and fix it. Trying to do this project right.
For example, last night I was almost ready to cast off, when I noticed I did the neck wrong. So I frogged back and I'm fixing it. Would anybody have noticed? Most likely not. But I would know.
Here's a close up.
I'm happy with the way it's turning out. I really am.

Next up is my doggie sweater.
It's hard color to photograph. It' that Fiber trends pattern, and I think it's called a Broken Rib.

Next up is the pattern I bought when I was shopping with Nic. I love this! Love it! It's super neat construction. You cast on the neck, and then increase, and then cast off the sleeves, and knit the body, which is where I am now.

So. There you go. Actual knitting content.

Friday, November 10

Dear Kate Gilbert,

I love your patterns. They are super cute and spiffy. But I am sorry, I cannot knit the baby pea pod sweater. I do not know why I have a brain fart and cannot follow a simple chart. But I can't. I'm a failure. I hope you can forgive me.

Yours,
Valkryie

Wednesday, November 8

Oh sweet jesus!

I don't know how I missed this....but thanks to Crazy Aunt Purl for pointing it out.
If they can't make it, with all the money in the world to buy them happiness...how can the normal folk make it?? why? Why cruel world??

Hehee!

Okay. Knitting content....somewhere...um...no.

Not today I guess.

What? Doogie is gay? Damn... how did I miss that one as well?
Okay... and how does Flavor Flav have SEVEN FREAKING KIDS??

Alrgiht.... I better go do something.... before all my brain cells die.

Tuesday, November 7

I need help.

I need a sweater pattern for a man. A tall man. I also need it to not be to crazy difficult, as I'd like to get this done by christmas.
Can I get someone to knit this for me as well? I have all the yarn...really I do.

Well. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Also, why am I the only one at Stitch and Bitch? I made a pot of coffee, and damn it, I shouldn't drink 10 cups, but I don't want to waste it. So. 10 cups of coffee + knitting = what? I'm not sure, and I'm afraid to find out.

Bah. Humbug.

I love Halloween. I really do. It's my most favorite Holiday ever. Even better that Christmas.

Why then am I not dressed up this year?

Because I've been so freaking busy I forogt it was Halloween. Yesterday I remembered, but at that point, I was not going to just toss a costume together, just to hand out candy to trick and treaters.

How lame am I?

Next year will be different. This I promise. I also promise to actually make those damn Day of the Dead sugar skulls that I've always wanted to make.

Oh yes. Next Year Will Be Different.

Monday, October 30

So excited!

Scout posted a little peak of the yarn she's sending me for the gallery. So pretty!
I should get the stuff sometime this week. Yeah!
I'm sure it will all be gone on Tuesday Nov 7th. The first Stitch and Bitch night.
I better squirrel some away for myself. :D

Thursday, October 26

The Sweater that never was.

I frogged that damn thing. I think I shall burn the yarn and never speak of it again.
I just could not get it to work. I kept messing up the pattern. Now, I need to find another sweater pattern that I can use WOTA. grrr! I think I found one in the summer 06 interweave knits, I just have to work up a swatch to see if the yarn will work. I was too frustrated to do that last night. So I started up a little baby bonnet. Because that should be easy. I hope.

Sunday, October 22

You know when something works out well... The skies part and the heavenly angels sing.... Yeah. That happened. I finished my Sizzle and holy hell it fits. It FITS! It really really FITS!! I love it. It's the first thing that has ever worked out for me.

So. Pictures to follow.

I started that xmas project the other night. It was going well, then I screwed up royally. I was knitted along and then added another ball of yarn and I started knitting the pattern on the WRONG SIDE! argh! So. After spending quit awhile frogging and re-knitting, I am finally back to the point I was on Friday, when I realized I had messed up. Two days to fix my mistake. TWO DAYS!! No angels singing on this project.

I pulled out my pink muppet sweater and started working on that again. I've got another 1/2 of a sleeve, and the cowl neck to go. If I keep up with it, I should have it finished this week. Yeah! I'm trying really hard to finish things, instead of starting things. But. I shall have to cast on something for my niece soon. The baby shower is on November 4th,and I have to have some knitted goodies done.

I got this free pattern at a yarn shop when I bought some cascade fixation, and I"m not really sure if the pattern in any good. I think it's completely screwed up. I've frogged it 4 times. It just doesn't seem to be working. You're supposed to cast on 27 stitches. And then *K1 inc 1 K10 inc1 *repeat to end, where you K1. Well, if you do that you end up with 4 stitches left over. I've tried it FOUR times. FOUR! The math just doesn't work.

Friday, October 20

Me 1. Tooth 0.

My tooth tried it's hardest, but it's coup went poorly. I almost gave in. I *wanted* to give in. I wanted to go back to the dentist, and have him liberate the damn tooth from my head. But instead, I doped myself to the gills, and stuck it out. Today, finally, the tooth gave in. It no longer hurts! I win!

I got my yarn in the mail the other day. The stuff I ordered for an xmas present. That's all I have to say about that.

Monday, October 16

*Insert something witty here*

ow!
I think I may be dying. Seriously. My tooth is killing me. The one that I *just* got fixed. I actually went home sick from work today, and signed up for a dentist apt for 7 am tomorrow morning. You know it's bad because A) I hate getting up early B) It's my b-day C) I get woozy at the thought of going to the dentist.

I'm going to crawl into bed with my knitting and a maybe my Buffy DVD's.

Saturday, October 14

How Cool!

Scout of the famous Scout's Swag totally pimped our gallery on her blog.

So guess what we're going to carry at our gallery. :D

Monday, October 9

Are there any Yarn stores on the way there?

So yesterday, I went to visit Nic, and even though she had already gone to 7 (!) yarn shops the day before, she took me shopping to 2 more yesterday. :D We went to All About Yarn, which I had never been to before, and Borealis Yarns, which I had been too once before with Nic.
I love yarn stores! At the first place I was good, and only spent 10 dollars. But I got this super cute pattern for a baby sweater, and yarn and a free pattern to make baby booties. At the next shop, well, I wasn't so good. I bought yarn to make 2 baby sweaters, and two books, and only 2 skeins of this lovely mohair that Nic pointed out. I didn't listen to her and I didn't buy it all. When we got back to her place, I remembered I had a pattern to make a sweater. So that means poor Nic has to go back and pick up 3 more skeins for me. :D (I love you Nic! You're the bestest!)

So, I learned to always buy all seven skeins. Always. Because you will find the pefect pattern 7 minutes after the store closes.

Saturday, October 7

I just had the best fried egg sandwich ever. And I ever made it myself. Yum!

Alright, on to knitting.
My Sizzle is just waiting for me to pick up those stitches and knit. I really should do it. I tried it on, and I think it will fit lovely over a button down shirt. Which is how I plan to wear it. :) This is Andean Treasure in Wild Rose.

Next up is a sweater for Cleo. I really love this pattern! It's fun to knit. Not so mindless that I get bored, but not so tough that I have to have to pay 100% attention on it. I got a bunch done while watching all my TV shows this week. :D I'm using WOTA in Cherry Blossom.
And, last but not least, Hedera in Sock Garden Zinnia. For my Mom. :D

So. There you have it. What I've been working on this week. Tomorrow I'm heading down to the cities to visit Nic, and she's taking me yarn shopping! Yeah Yeah! I can't wait.

Sunday, October 1

Squee!

Did you know there's only 16 days until my birthday?

Well there is. Get Shopping.

My Bro and his wife came over yesterday. As well as my parents. I got to squeeze the baby. It was lots of fun.

Today, hubby is off working, and I really should go mow the lawn, but I really want to start working on a project I picked up for the baby. We'll probaly be heading to the cities on Friday, so if I plan it right I could have everything done, and give it to Maya then. Hmm....Plotting plotting....

So here's my Kimono shawl. Not much progress as of late. I had been focused on my swap project and the baby sweater. I got a pic of that finally, I have to scan it in. Or have my bro email it to me, then I can post it. I cast on some socks Friday night. I'm making Hedera out of Knit Picks Sock Garden in Zinnia for my Mother. I really like the pattern, I seem to be zipping right along.

Thursday, September 28

And now, for something completely different.

I finished my Knitty Swap project! Yeah!

It's not that it took a long time to knit, it's just that I couldn't decide what to knit, then I couldn't find the pattern, then the yarn.... yadda yadda. Well, I finished it all last night, and I need to get in the mail ASAP. I really think I want one for myself now. Maybe I'll post pics, I think it should be safe to. We'll see.

So, that's 2 things completed this month! And, my Sizzle is almost done. It's been blocked, I just need to sew it up, then knit the neck band and sleeve edges. Should be simple, but I hate hate hate picking up stitches. Blregh.

Maybe I'll cast on for my Mom's socks instead.

Saturday, September 23

more baby photos!

Here's one of my Brother and his daughter. (wow, that's weird to say)

Thursday, September 21

Holy Carp!

I'm an auntie!

Maya Carolyn was born today at 4:04 pm. She weighed 6 pounds 13 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long.

ignore the fact that I wear no make-up. I jumped out of the shower and ran to the hospital. I think I even forgot to put on deodorant!

But, I finished the baby sweater. It was done at 3:15, and about 45 minute later Maya was born. Pretty close! I almost didn't make it! :D

Wednesday, September 20

awww poopies.

I feel like....Well... Like my uterus is trying to escape away. Maybe run to Vegas and pursue a career as a dancer, before it decides to settle down and have some babies.
I don't know. It just hurts.

So, I called in sick, and I'm going to lay on the couch with a heating pad. Instead of cleaning. Which is what I should really be doing. Maybe when the muscle relaxers kick in.

Well, at least I should get some knitting done. I've got one sleeve left to go on the baby sweater. Sizzle is whizzing along nicely. I'm on the decrease section on the front, I think I have about 3 more to go.

Friday, September 15

Sizzle. v 1.2

So after knitting awhile on my Sizzle, I held it up, looked at it, then took it off the needles, to hold it up again. Yup. Too Big. Which is fine, I found out only 2 inches in. So I frogged it last night and starting knitting again. I made fairly good progress on it. I just placed the markers and started the first dart.

I'm holding off on knitting the sleeves on the baby sweater. I don't want it to get finished too soon. I'm not claiming to have the baby birthing powers of the Yarn Harlot, but I'm not chancing things. The wee sprout isn't due until Oct 5th, so I'm taking it easy. Plus, I think it should be born on Sept 24th. Why? I don't know. That's just the feeling I have. So. I shall finish the sweater on Sept 23rd. :D

Thursday, September 14

Yeah! New Project. :D

So I started my Sizzle last night. I finally got it to print (at work...sh!) and after measuring my boobs, and realizing that there's no way I'm a 36 inch bust, I cast on.
It's Knit Picks Andean Treasure in Wild Rose. I've been eyeing the Lagoon. It's such a lovely color. I think I may have to buy it for another one. :)

Speaking of Knit Picks. I did order some yarn. Yarn to make Hush-Hush in a lovely Red. And I got yarn to make Cleo her very own sweater. Because I've made 4 dog sweaters now, and my poor doggie goes without. So. She'll get a WOTA Cherry Red sweater. Lucky Puppy.

Tuesday, September 12

Give me a "S"

I did some swatching. I'm going to be trying another KAL with the Sexy Knitters Club. I'll be trying to do Sizzle.(love that pattern!) Following some advice from SKC, I tried some of the Andean Treasure I had on hand from a failed project from awhile back. I got the gauge with size 7 needles. Woo! So, if I ever get my printer to work, I'll print it up and get knitting. I've got a ton of projects on my plate.

Orange Baby Sweater - Just need to knit two sleeves
Knitted thing Swap - Have to get yarn. I picked out the pattern at least. :)
hubbies' Socks- I'm stuck on the heel on sock two. Not 'stuck' , just paused
Kimono Shawl - Repeat 2 done.
Baby Sweater #2- I've got the sleeves attached. Just need to work on the yoke

I think that's even in the order they much be done. Baby can come anything I guess. If she goes into labor at this point they won't stop it. The knitted thing swap has to ship by Oct 1.

Of course, the shawl can be done whenever. I'd like to get my hubbies' socks done before the first snow fall. The 2 baby sweater is a 'hope chest' project, so there's really no time limit.

Thursday, September 7

Knitting!

I screwed up! I knit two of the cutest dog sweaters and I forgot to take a picture of them. Boo!
My hubbies' aunts got a new little chihuahua and he's cold, so I knit two little hand wash wool sweaters. I used some left over lambs pride in this lovely dark green color, and the second was Wool of the Andes in leftover red and yellow.

Super Cute.
But no pictures.

I finished the front of the orange baby sweater for my bro's sprout, and am chugging along on the back.

My Kimono shawl is looking fab. I frogged back a repeat that I messed up, and that was a little scary for a moment. But I got all the stitches back on the needles, found where I was, and started knitting along again. Looking at some other ones on the interweb, I'd like to try it in a thicker weight of yarn next time. Next time! Look at me! I'm crazy! I've got enough yarn sitting around for 2 more shawls, and I have two patterns sitting around waiting for yarn for them, and I want to knit something over? Crazy.

Tuesday, August 29

Things.

Things are going well. Except for the dog poop I came home to yesterday. Other then that. Things are going very well.

My husband and I are venturing into the business world. We're opening a art gallery in town. I'm very excited. It'll feature hand crafted goodness. Not artys fartsy. But art. And there will be yarn. Hand dyed yarn. I can't wait.

Rogues Gallery Fine Art

There you be.

On the knitting front, I've got to the point where I need to start the heel on hubbies second sock. I've gotten 2 lace repeats done on my pink shawl. I've attached the sleeves on the conception sweater. (according to the knitty ladies, you must finish something for a baby, before you have on. I think it tempts them into the womb or something.) And, I've started another baby sweater. This one for my Brothers' sprout. I told him to pick out the yarn and I would knit. He picked out washable wool! Go him! But, it is boucle. Or however you spell it. So It's a little bit of a pain in the arse.

Tuesday, August 15

Bah.

Things I need to do today:
Wash some undies.
Shave my legs.
Dust.

Things I have done today:
Gone to class.
Gone to an interview.
Mowed half the yard. (hubby did the other half)
Dishes.
Picked up my knitting laying everywhere.

Not too bad I guess.

Knitting is going along well. I'm on the second sleeve of the baby sweater. I've finished a repeat of the lace shawl. Did a couple inches on my hubbies' socks. Started new socks for myself. (the new Meg Swanson socks, in pink and brown)

Trouble is, since I switched computers, I have no editing program on this computer. So. I can't post pictures. I had photoshop on the last one. But I don't on this one. Oh poo. I need to find my disk so I can install it.

Um... yeah. Got nothing else. Boring today. Sorry.

Oh. FYI. Do not do a search for "knee high socks knit pattern". Trust me.

Tuesday, August 8

Just one of those days I guess.

I tried to work on my pink shawl, and I figured out I was twisting all of my stitches. All. Of. Them.
Since I wasn't even halfway thru one repeat, I frogged.

Then I cast on a new shawl. I'm making the Kimono Shawl from the book Folk Shawls. I'm using Knit Picks Apalca Cloud in Peppermint. I'm about halfway thru my first repeat. So far I like the pattern very much. I might get some pics posted today or tomorrow.

In other exciting news.... THE FUG IS ON IT'S WAY!
I can't wait. I know good things can only follow the fug.

That is it. I think I'm going to toss a load of laundry in. I need to wash my BRAND NEW sheets. Why? The dog threw up this morning. Only. On. The. New. Sheets. argh!

Sunday, August 6

Hrumph.

I shouldn't knit with ahead injury. That's it. That's the excuse I need.

I frogged the shawl. Again. Because last night, I fix a huge mistake. Everything is fine and dandy. And today, while I was fixing a small mistake, that's when I fuck it all up. Go figure.

Now part of me wants to do something different. But part of me still wants to work on lace. I guess I should pull out the pink shawl from folk shawls and work on it. It's got a simple lace pattern. Hopefully I won't screw that up too.

Friday, August 4

hmmm..

Did you know you can't knit lace while playing video games with your 7 year old nephew.

Yes. I should have known.

So. I frogged it. But I want to try again. The only thing is, I really like the main body pattern, but I'm not so keen on the edging. So. Can I just knit it with out the bigger Lilly pattern? How to finish it off? Screw it an go back to the flower basket? Does it really matter? The more I look at it, it's not so bad.

Hmm... Again.

Wednesday, August 2

What's wrong with me?

All I wanted to do last night, and yet again today, is to cast on something. Why? WHY??

I kept trying to knit, and I just wasn't feeling it. I'd knit a few rows, then put it down. Pick up something else, knit a few rows, put it down, lather rinse, repeat.

So. I really want to cast on. Really. Bad.

I just got my new IK today. Maybe I'll cast on the shawl in it. I've got a few skeins of Shadow or Aplaca Cloud kicking around. Maybe this is a good excuse to use them up.

Ooo! It's an excuse to use my swift and ball winder. (like I need one) I think I'm going to do that. :D

Friday, July 28

I have been super ass busy this week.

Why?

Becasue I got a job.

It's only a temp. But it is still a job.

Anyway.

I'm not dead. Just employed.

Wednesday, July 19

Three. It's the magic number.

So I'm working on that Dale of Norway sweater. It took me three tries to get the cuff right. As of last night, it's taken me three times to get the sleeve right. (knock on wood) What is it about Three? Why is it the magic number? Why is third time the charm? Will someone please explain this to me?

So I got a package yesterday from my SP. :D This makes me very happy. I found inside a few books:

Wooo! There's some fried food covered in gravy in my future! I can't wait.

And then a pretty candle. (I almost burned the house down already. Left it going. At least I think I did. Hubby hasn't yelled at me yet, so maybe I didn't.)
And then this:

Which is cool in it self.

But then you OPEN it and woo! Cooler stuff! :D Such pretty pretty things. It's makes me very happy. I have the best SP ever.

Friday, July 14

Romantic? Me? Never.

Tomorrow will mark one year in which my husband and I agreed to be partners in crime forever. One Year! Already! Holy Cow!

To celebrate, I took the cake out of the freezer, and grabbed the bottle of wine we bought on our honeymoon trip to NYC.

I thought about making lemon chicken, and garlic mashed potatoes (that was on the menu) but instead opted to juice 8 limes to make some Lime Chipotle-Honey steaks.

Tomorrow we'll be eating out at Corks. I'm very excited! Their food is super good.

She's dead Jim.

This week, my brother has been calling to see if I am dead. So far, not dead. But I think, today may be different. I may be dead when he calls.

I was feeling much better. I haven't had to take a vicaden all day yesterday or today. I am on the upward spiral.
Then I took the dog for a walk around the block. It's not a very big block. Now, I feel like I need to throw up and rip out my innards. All at once. I need my vicaden.

So, I am going to take my meds, and sit on the couch and knit baby hats on said meds. Hopefully they will turn out alright. The hats, not the meds.

Thursday, July 13

Hot hot hot.

It's hot outside. So I am hiding inside, with the AC on. I went to the post office today, and that just about killed me. I still feel icky. And exhausted. I can do one thing, like load the dishwasher, then I have to sit down and rest. It sucks. I feel like I'm one hundred years old, and climbing the steps (all 8 of them) is like climbing mount Everest.

So. I took pictures of my knitting. Now I need to sit down again, so I'm uploading them. Go me. At this rate, I'll get the laundry done...Mm.... Never.

Here's Merey's diaper bag. I did similar to the bag I made for Tonia, but I didn't slip the stitches on the corners. So this one doesn't fold in quite as nice. I still like it. I hope she does too. It's made out of KnitPicks Wool of the Andes, double stranded in Violet and Hush. Can you tell where I learned I was twisting my stitches when I knit in the round? Well, I can. But she'll never know. I hope.

Next up is my Fuzzy Pink Muppet Sweater. After a weekend at the lake, I got a bunch done on it. I like it, it's going to be warm. But it won't do much for my girlish figure. It's boarding on the frumpy side. Maybe when I block it, it will make it a little less tube like. Who cares really. I still think I'm going to look like a big ol' muppet.

I started working on the socks for my hubby again. I was stuck because I was twisting my stitches, so do I finish, or frog. Plus, I wasn't sure of having enough yarn. So I put the sock on another needle, (I'd still like to knit about 2 inches before I switch to black for the toes) and started the second one. I figure I'll knit until I run out, or I'm even with the first sock. Any bets on which will happen first? I'm laying the money on running out of yarn. But... we'll see what happens.

The dog is driving me crazy today. I know it's becasue she's bored, but I'm not sure I can make it to the mail box and back, let alone take her for a walk.

Poor Puppy. I'm a bad doggie mommy.

Wednesday, July 12

Exploding Ovaries

So, apparently my left ovary exploded sometime earlier this week. Which is why I've been in such pain, and why I've been to the doctor 3 times in the last 3 days. Ugh. I can't get anything done, because as soon as I start to move, my side hurts. So I've been knitting. Which is nice, but I haven't been able to take pictures yet of what I've done. :P I finished Merey's diaper bag. I think I may need to toss the handle in the wash just one more time. Then it will be perfect.

Oh, and I put some yarn up on eBay. I got it in a swap off the knitty board. But I didn't like how the yarn was working up in the project I had planned for it. So in hopes of making a little bit of money, so I can buy more yarn, I'm trying to sell it.

Friday, July 7

*thump*

That was me, falling off the wagon.

I stopped into my LYS today. Not the one I bitched about the other day. The other one. The one that's located right next door to a tattoo shop. Anyway. I stopped in to look for yarn for my SP. I got a pattern for a little shug/jacket thing, that I think will work great for that cork I bought awhile back. I was doing so well. Pattern for yarn I already have. Then I stopped by the sale bin. Half off sock yarn. So I bought 4 skeins of Kroy. 2 in white and 2 in blue. But really, I got those four for the price of two. So really, if you look at it, I got a free pair of socks. Plus, sock yarn doesn't count. The Yarn Harlot said so. So it must be true. She wouldn't lie.....Right? She's Canadian. And as far as I know, Canadians don't lie.

Thursday, July 6

Ebay=The devil. Any questions?

Somebody buy this before I do. I also want two of these and, maybe some of this too. I've been very good. I haven't bought any yarn for over a month. Well, I did buy some for my SP. But that doesn't count, because it's not for me, and went out in the mail today. So there. Anyway, where was I....Oh yea. Stating the fact that I haven't bought yarn since June 3rd! Let me tell you, it's killing me! I've been very good at knitting with the yarn I have. I even wound some of it so I could work on projects. But, I miss opeing a box and petting new yarn.
Maybe I should have my hubby box some yarn up and send it to me. That way it would be a surprise, and I could pet it. It does help that my SP sends me yarn. I got some lovely Luna that I'm petting. I don't know what to turn it into, so I'm just petting it.

Yea.... so. Um...

I got nothing really.

Wednesday, July 5

Stupid people

So I really really want one of these knitting bags. It's from Namaste Needles. I've got some of their glass needles. Lovely. Just lovely. Anyway. Back to my story. One of the LYS is listed as being a retail location. Cool. I thought. I don't remember seeing any of their things. I'll just call ahead. Yeah. I asked if they carried the Namaste Knitting messenger bag. So told me they had "two old bags" but not any patterns by Namaste. I said... No. The messenger bag. I'm looking for the bag. Nope. No patterns by namaste. ggrrr... Do I stutter? Did I not make myself clear enough? This is why I shop on the interweb. Because I get what I want. Not people offering me patterns from another company.

Anyway....

I was going to post a picture of my sweater, but I never took a picture of it today. Oh well. Tomorrow then I guess.

Sunday, July 2

Rock Star

So.

We partied like rock stars friday night. We didn't get to bed until 4 am.
Saturday, I felt alot like a dead rock star. Reaminated. But not very well done of a job.

Ugh. I still feel yucky today.

We hit the Body worlds exebit on sat, which was fun. And I saw a movie about beavers. Weee! Bevears.

Yeah.

Too old for this. Way too old.
